The combination of fantastic hospitality, the internationally beloved cuisine (also my favorite!), stunning oceans, lively parties, expats, solo travelers, and the many friends I’ve made here, makes this country incredibly special to me. Hi everyone! Welcome to a new travel diary where I take you – largely solo – to a safe, clean, prosperous and beautiful part of Brazil – Florianópolis. If you are looking for a beautiful, safe, clean and adventurous travel destination in Brazil, this is your place. There are a lot of people I’ve spoken to on my past travels who often skip Brazil while backpacking through South America because of a ‘bad image’ – sadly (however, I personally also do not recommend Rio myself, while I absolutely love Brazil). I have therefore completely devoted this travel diary to a part of Brazil that I think you should definitely visit if you have the chance! And it also deserves much more fame. Florianópolis is a place known for its 40+ beaches, hiking and climbing routes, nature, surf spots, good food, oysters, fresh fish, safety and social life. A pearl in South America where you can relax and enjoy the real ‘Brazilian feeling’ – with a slightly European touch from the ‘descendants’ who have lived here for generations from, for example, Germany and Italy. Last week I returned from Florianópolis – Brazil. Actually, immediately after the trip I became very ill. So sick that I checked with the doctor. I haven’t been as sick as I was last week in years. Apparently I had already developed stomach flu in Brazil, which manifested itself in the Netherlands. Fortunately, I have now almost recovered. Just in time for the holidays! I am very much looking forward to taking you along in my stories about Floripa soon. An incredibly safe, clean, fun and adventurous landscape in Brazil. I took the photos of this outfit around the Selina where I stayed for a few days. A few weeks ago I went on a trip to Bangkok. I felt strongly that this was going to be an amazing trip. Originally, I would go on a 6-7 day trip with my best friend Roos, who lives in Abu Dhabi – but this felt too short for me. In 3 years time, I have seen Roos in real life for 4 hours – which was in Dubai last April by ‘sort of’ coincidence. From her departure station Abu Dhabi, it is about 6 hours flying time and from Amsterdam 12 hours straight. Because of the longer distance, I wanted to stay for more days than that anyway. Due to the 2 hour delay on my working flight, I would no longer be able to catch the KLM flight in the evening directly to BKK. I decided to fly to Dubai with Emirates. [Lees meer…]

Welcome to my part 2 of my personal travel diary! A little sidenote is that there are a lot more pictures of myself in this post than usual, because I didn’t create outfit posts of all outfits here and decided to combine it in this upload. If you haven’t read part one, you can click here: part one. The last 8 days of this trip I would spend in my favorite place for the 3th time; Tulum. I have to tell you that I was a bit afraid that it would get quite hard because of my personal reason, more hard than the last few days in Mexico. My goal was once again to go right through it to celebrate the love for this place and the wonderful memories I have of this special place. Mexico travel diary | Back to Mexico solo – Mexico city & Puerto Escondido

Today, my journey started with luckily getting a seat at the gate on the flight to Mexico City (CDMX). I was really looking forward to visiting this destination and secretly looking forward to it even more than going back to Japan. I have quite a love for Mexico, so I love to go back often. It was with a double feeling, because of my situation in November. I wanted to move between the pain of a circumstance and the love of this place. The best way to get out of something is to go straight through and into it. I decided to take the bull by its horns, because I don’t want to let something win against me if it can cost or affect me something very beautiful. Last November I already did that with all the strength I had in me. And this journey made me realize how strong and courageous I was last fall, and how that same money goes back for now. I’ve been to Shibuya Sky, Tokyo Skytree and Shinjuku Metropolitan Government Building so far. This day I really wanted to go to Roppongi Hills, because I still wanted to visit this viewpoint. Be aware that you have an outdoor vantage point and an indoor one. If you want to visit the outside point, you pay another 500 yen on top of the entrance fee. [Lees meer…]
