Hi everyone! Welcome to the continuation of my original Brazil travel diary. In this travel diary, I will share with you my experiences and tips from my unplanned and spontaneous solo trip to Buenos Aires in Argentina. I was also really looking forward to this spontaneous trip, which I also hadn’t planned when I went. Going without a plan and without preparation sometimes brings unexpected, fun surprises. Hi everyone! Last month, I traveled to Brazil for the first time. I met a friend in Tulum last year, who I kept in touch with almost daily from then on. Brazil started to tickle my ‘wanderlust’ more and more. In this travel diary I have typed up all my travel tips and ‘diaries’ from my days in Brazil for you. [Lees meer…]
Welcome to my part 2 of my personal travel diary! A little sidenote is that there are a lot more pictures of myself in this post than usual, because I didn’t create outfit posts of all outfits here and decided to combine it in this upload. If you haven’t read part one, you can click here: part one.The last 8 days of this trip I would spend in my favorite place for the 3th time; Tulum. I have to tell you that I was a bit afraid that it would get quite hard because of my personal reason, more hard than the last few days in Mexico. My goal was once again to go right through it to celebrate the love for this place and the wonderful memories I have of this special place. On the other hand, I had also really looked forward to being back in Tulum! [Lees meer…]
Today, my journey started with luckily getting a seat at the gate on the flight to Mexico City (CDMX). I was really looking forward to visiting this destination and secretly looking forward to it even more than going back to Japan. I have quite a love for Mexico, so I love to go back often. It was with a double feeling, because of my situation in November. I wanted to move between the pain of a circumstance and the love of this place. The best way to get out of something is to go straight through and into it. I decided to take the bull by its horns, because I don’t want to let something win against me if it can cost or affect me something very beautiful. Last November I already did that with all the strength I had in me. And this journey made me realize how strong and courageous I was last fall, and how that same money goes back for now. It’s not the place that hurt me, and I want to protect and appreciate the love for that place with all my power. [Lees meer…]
In this post, I will also tell about my last days in Mexico, Playa del Carmen, Bacalar and the amazing other things and places I got to experience during my last days here. Chitzen-Itza is one of the wonders of the world that I was eager to visit and hadn’t visited last time. Moreover, I hadn’t crossed off a single wonder of the world so far! I thought I really had to do this during my month here. Basically the most touristy thing you can do in this area, but very cool to experience. Besides, it was a good idea for me to leave Tulum today and go out with a friend, after everything from the day before. [Lees meer…]
This morning on November 22 started with an extensive brunch with Cyni at Ki’bok coffee in La Veleta – next to Tulum jungle gym, where I went with my rented bike from my hostel. I have to tell you that I reach almost everything here in Mexico within the villages by bicycle. We ate divinely delicious chilaquiles at this place – which I definitely want to come back for! After lunch we would go with Cyni’s friends to Vagalume, where they also allowed me to enter without an entrance fee and without a minimum spend. Via google maps I followed my way on my bike alone through quite remote roads and I have to tell you that I found that the only time I didn’t feel safe – and that during the day! In the end I suffered on the beach with Cyni’s dear friends – Vagalume is a cool high-end beach club that is known for the ‘hands’ that many people take pictures with. It was very nice to have a drink and relax here. [Lees meer…]
On November 17th, I left for Mexico for the 2nd time in a year. This is the ‘official’ 8th trip of this year. This first part is in Playa del Carmen, Holbox and Tulum – the first part of my journey. The reason why I would go for more than a month is because I wanted to bridge the winter in the Netherlands during my annual leave, I wanted to go back to dear friends who live there, I wanted to travel solo again and because my (now former) long-distance love lived in Tulum and I had met there earlier this year – which was originally my biggest reason to stay this long. In this travel diary I explain to you like a diary what I have done and visited during this trip, together with tips. I don’t make this diary too personal, because this trip went differently than the original plan why I came here. [Lees meer…]
This morning – day 8 – I flew back to CTG with Avianca. I wanted to be back early for my KLM friend Ilona. She had requested a layover to go on the road with me. We decided to go to Movich hotel together to see the nice view in Cartagena. The weather was very disappointing today and there was massive flooding on the street. After some pictures at Movich, we went for lunch somewhere in the old center. We couldn’t go anywhere because of the weather! In the end we went for a drink at Townhouse Rooftop – a nice place I’ve been to before. [Lees meer…]
In this blog post I will tell you about my solo trip experience in Medellin – Colombia. Formerly known as quite a ‘unsafe’ place in the world and nowdays completely different and absolutely amazing! I would like to tell you how I experienced this place in this post. I do want to reveal that I soon regretted having only stayed here for a 3 day trip! [Lees meer…]
