Being a stewardess | Brussels center layover & influencer event

11/09/2023 | Reageer

Hi everyone! After years, I enjoyed making a weekly diary again! In any case, influencer events, collaborations and flight attendant layovers are some of the most fun aspects of my ‘professions’ – so I enjoyed making these, like all my posts! This week started on August 31st. [Lees meer…]

Croatia travel diary | 48 hours in Dubrovnik

20/08/2023 | Reageer

Two months ago I went to Dubrovnik in Croatia with a friend from work. We both flew standby from Rotterdam to Dubrovnik in the evening. Although we would have less than 48 hours in Croatia, I expected to be able to do everything easily in a small town like this. I was hoping to feel the same vibe as in Split two years ago in this place. I honestly thought Split was one of my best ‘city trips’ in a long time. To tell you in advance – Croatia is now a euro country, so keep in mind that partly because of this and in any case in recent years, prices have risen enormously and it is no longer cheap. We only found out about this during the trip itself, because I thought I could eat, drink and move around just fine with about 40-50 euros per day.. since I am not someone who – apart from a collab – wants/needs a 3 cours dinner every day.

Portugal travel diary | 4 day party weekend in Lisbon

23/03/2023 | Reageer

Last October I traveled to Lisbon for the 4th time as a city trip. Nicole is a school friend of mine whom I know from my studies. In 2019 I visited her with another former classmate because she lived here for a while before her education. Lisbon is my favorite city in Europe, so I really wanted to go back. We flew together from Eindhoven airport to Lisbon and I was allowed to invite Nicole to see the landing from the cockpit. [Lees meer…]

Spain travel diary | 3 day weekend trip to Marbella

01/09/2022 | Reageer

Hi everyone. At the end of July, I went to visit a good friend of mine in Marbella for a weekend. Funnily enough, Marbella itself was never on my travel wish list, but during this weekend I went there for the second time. I’m normally not a big fan of jet set places, but it certainly didn’t disappoint. Early Friday morning, I left for Schiphol to start this weekend. After a long line of 2.5 hours, I arrived at the gate. I was on standby for a seat (if seat available airline staff tickets), but at this point it looked totally full. When I met the KLM crew, I was very lucky because I got the – in my opinion – ‘best front row seat’ (the cockpit observer seat) and was the very last one to board. Thanks to the efforts of this sweet crew and ground crew I was able to join. The entire flight was enjoyable and I spent the entire flight in the cockpit.

Being a stewardess | Layovers in Brussels

18/08/2022 | Reageer

Hi everyone! It’s been a while since I last wrote a flight attendant post. I thought it would be fun to make one again, especially now that I’ve had two nice ‘layovers’. I created this post for all flight attendants-to-be, or people who are simply very interested in taking a look ‘in the kitchen’ of life in aviation. With my airline you hardly ever stay in another place, because we mainly only do ’turnarounds’ (at least, especially in my case as someone who is Eindhoven based), but recently we fly from Brussels Airport. I really enjoy staying in a different place occasionally for my work. This year I also loved this during my modeling assignments back in spring, when I often stayed in a hotel with a nice group of girls. In a short time I had two layovers and I personally really liked that. I had a short one night layover from my standby, then about two weeks later a 3 night layover scheduled on my roster. In this post I’ll show you what we’ve been up to on these stops. Despite being not far from home in principle, I had never been to Brussels before. [Lees meer…]

Spain travel diary | 3 day short trip to Ibiza

21/06/2022 | Reageer

Hi everyone! Last month I went to Ibiza for 3 days. It was amazing and the island really surprised me. It was a last minute trip with a dear colleague just before my vacation to Mexico. It started at the beginning of the afternoon when we left with our airline (standby tickets) from Schiphol to Ibiza. After a wonderful flight with the lovely crew and sitting in the cockpit during the landing (which still remains beautiful, even though I have been a flight attendant for years), we went to the car rental that we arranged through our employer. Because Kanar – the colleague who was going to travel with me – drives an automatic car, I drove around the island on this trip. For me it was the first time to drive on a holiday destination, so it was very nice to have done that! [Lees meer…]

Spain Travel diary | 3 day last minute october trip to Alicante

19/04/2022 | Reageer

Hi everyone! Last autumn I went to Alicante with a friend who was temporarily working at my airline. Due to all of my busy schedules, all my travel diaries had been ‘on hold’ for a few months. In this blog I will explain to you in short with a lot of photos what we did in Alicante in 3 days. In bold you will find some tips and an explanation of our experiences. I have to tell you honestly that I like to do active things, but because it was very last minute, and we had very busy schedules, we both felt the need to take it easy during this last minute trip. Spain & Portugal travel diary | Unexpected road trip to Faro, Sevilla, Tarifa & Marbella

07/04/2022 | Reageer

Hi everyone! Lately I have very little time to make travel posts. Creating one takes a lot of time, but I love doing this. This is the travel diary about my road trip from Faro, Sevilla, Tarifa, Marbella and Malaga in 5 days. In February I was due to go to Mexico during my annual unpaid leave as a new distant solo trip. Joelle, a good friend of mine, wanted to travel with me last minute for a few days, before continuing the journey solo. To briefly summarize how that ended: The flight was full and Joelle and I were left behind (we were going to fly standby; a cheap way of flying for people in aviation if there is room on board). My heart was disappointed that we were left behind. We gave our cheesecake to the sweet senior purser I happened to know so that the crew could enjoy a snack on their long flight to Cancun. Unfortunately, we decided to pick up our suitcase and come up with a new plan on the spot. Once at plaza we canceled everything we had booked (and luckily got the money back from the hotels). We decided to do some brainstorming over a cup of coffee and then abruptly decided to fly to Joelle’s best friend later that afternoon. [Lees meer…]

Greece Travel diary | 4 day holiday to Zakynthos

20/11/2021 | Reageer

I can’t believe how fast time goes. Zakynthos has been seriously almost 2-3 months since I post this (Early September)! I will already tell you that Zakynthos is one of the most beautiful places I have visited in Europe and I highly recommend it! The flight distance is around 2.5 hours, so also quite close. This trip was a total of 4 days. You can do a lot more in such a short time than you might think. I like to go on an adventure or discovery. A complete “beach vacation” or “party vacation” is not for an adventurous and curious person like me. So I have to tell you that I really can’t spend whole days just lying on a beach. I prefer to travel (around the island (with or without a plan) with a car), sightseeing, discovering a nice new city and old streets, eating and drinking deliciously, trying local food, drinking coffee on terraces, taking lots of pictures with my camera, exploring the local culture of a place (for example, my Japan trips), visit viewpoints over the city or landscapes, get to know new people from all over the world, see beautiful places, do lots of cycling and walking, or on adventure/discovery… you name it. It changed my life.

Not because of the beaches, the sunsets, or the endless tacos.

Mexico taught me that life can be bigger than the version I was settling for.

It was the first place that showed me freedom doesn’t come from having everything figured out, it comes from trusting yourself enough to take the next step.

It gave me lifelong friendships, unforgettable adventures, confidence I didn’t know I had, and the courage to build a life that feels like mine.

I arrived as someone looking for a holiday.

I left with a completely different perspective on what was possible.

And honestly?

A part of me never really came back. πŸ‡²πŸ‡½βœ¨

POV: You spent your 20s in beauty competitions.

People see the gowns, the crowns, the photos and the stage.

What they don’t see are the early mornings, the self-doubt, the courage it takes to keep showing up, and the growth that happens long after the spotlight fades.

My twenties taught me that beauty competitions were never really about beauty.

They were about finding my voice.
About learning confidence.
About standing on a stage when I was terrified.
About representing causes I care about.
About inspiring others to embrace who they are.

I had the honor of competing in:

✨ Miss World
✨ Miss Universe
✨ Miss Grand International
✨ Miss Cosmo
✨ Miss International (selected to represent the Netherlands internationally, later cancelled due to COVID)

The titles were never the biggest reward.

The friendships, lessons, resilience, opportunities, and the woman I became along the way will always mean more than any crown ever could.

To the younger version of me who dreamed of standing on those stages: we did it. πŸ’«

Gone (solo) travelling 😜

One day they’ll look for the version of you that was always there.

The version they took for granted.

And by then, you’ll be gone.

What’s the hardest lesson something taught you without meaning to?

One day I realized:

I wasn’t afraid of being and travelling alone.

I was afraid of losing my life while waiting for someone else.

So I booked the flight. ✈️
