Last week I went to Malaga with my good friend and colleague Michelle. This city trip was a last minute decision, so that made it even more fun. We decided to relax for 3 days in a much warmer city to catch up, because we hadn’t seen each other for a few months. On March 4 we flew to Malaga with a very nice crew from our home base Eindhoven Airport, Standby. I had a three-day weekend, so as I had done before, a city trip suited perfectly. We arrived in the evening so we changed our outfit in our AirBnb apartment and then went out for dinner. By the way, our Airbnb was called Malaga City Breaks. What quickly struck me was the enormous hospitality of this city. [Lees meer…]
Being a Stewardess | 3 day Dubai Layover
Welcome to my first layover diary and my second Stewardess post! As I have told in my other post, my work is my passion and I like to share some nice things about it. About a week and a half ago I was allowed to go to Dubai for 3 days with a nice crew, flying from Amsterdam. I already knew the cabin crew colleagues from Eindhoven and Amsterdam, so that was of course extra fun. Dubai had long been on my wish list. The airline where I work for mainly has ’turnarounds’, so a layover is of course a very nice extra for a lot of people. Many people certainly look forward to it like me. Previous September I also had a nice layover in the city of Groningen. [Lees meer…]
Japan travel diary | 2019 Solo trip to Japan part 3
I cropped this last part of my 14 day trip into one post as I haven’t taken many photos in the last few days there. This is day 9 to 14. One of the last days I heard from a KLM flight attendant that my standby travel flight was as good as full, so I booked an extra night in my hostel in Tokyo and converted the KLM IPB flight to a new one day later. This day I went to Kyoto again from Osaka, this time with Yuka. Osaka and Kyoto are not long apart by public transport, I believe half an hour, so no other hostel was needed. Yuka and I have known each other since 2013 and have seen each other in the Netherlands and last year in Japan as well. [Lees meer…]
Japan travel diary | 2019 Solo trip to Japan part 1
In November, I went to Japan for 14 days. Just like I did in 2018, I went solo. I had booked the direct KLM flights via crew standby travel. After a flight of 10.5 hours in total, I left to the city the same way as last year, with the Narita express – a direct train connection to central Tokyo at Narita Airport station. The price of a return trip is 4000 yen (around 28 euros) – For the standby/crew members among us, you can also use the return ticket for another day, in case your plans change within 14 days. Portugal Travel Diary | 4 day Lisbon girls trip
At the end of October I had been to Lisbon with a friend from my former study International Business (IBS). We were planning to visit a friend of ours who is studying there for a few months. Yanneke and I flew (standby) to Lisbon. This 4 day trip is for me number 4 of 2019 and my 3rd time in Lisbon. As I have said in many posts, Lisbon is my favorite city trip destination in Europe so far. The many colorful streets with sweet little restaurants keep surprising me. The follow up cities are Valencia and Porto for me. In 2015 I went there as a study trip (and during that time, my “cabin crew dreams” started). In 2017 I went there solo. [Lees meer…]
Outfit | Mint
Lisbon is my favorite city trip destination in Europe as I have probably told you before. The colorful streets and all those cute places keep surprising me. I bought this cute dot dress in sale at Loavies. I wanted to bring a nice new dress to Lisbon last minute, so I chose this one. Where I am standing here, is at Pink Street near Cais do Sodre. This colored street is a hotspot in Lisbon, where many people take pictures. [Lees meer…]
Outfit | Rose
A few days ago I was in Lisbon – trip number 4 of 2019. I went to Lisbon with a school friend for 4 days to visit another school friend – this was, by the way, my 3rd time in Lisbon. Lisbon genuinely remains my favorite European city alongside my home town. (By the way, I didn’t notice the mop until I was editing, haha.) I ordered this pink dress at Godly. When I arrived from chilly Netherlands in way warmer Portugal, I replaced my tights and sneakers with my favorite travel shoes. By the way – Yanneke took the pictures of this outfit at one of the cute narrow streets near our Airbnb. [Lees meer…]
Turkey Travel Diary | 4 day special solo trip to Istanbul
This travel diary is a very special and personal one, the title says Solo, but I was not alone. I was very curious about my partial ‘roots’ and lovely family members that I never or haven’t seen in the last 20 years. I went to see them on my own in Istanbul. After the sudden death of my grandfather in early 2019, which I was actually going to see in real life for the first time this year (we had facetime contact every now and then, telephone contact and he spoke Dutch), I decided to fly to Istanbul during my vacation, less than half a day after I came back from Valencia, from Eindhoven airport. Spain Travel Diary | Second 3 day trip to Valencia
At the end of last month I went to Valencia for the second time. This beautiful city remains a nice hotspot in my eyes for sea, city, shopping and delicious food. I went there with a colleague. We arrived halfway through the afternoon and went there by Standby seats (flying for a reduced price for flight attendants). The first day was relaxed. After the flight we decided to change clothes and head for the boulevard to eat and drink for a long time. [Lees meer…]
