Spain Travel Diary | Second 3 day trip to Valencia

At the end of last month I went to Valencia for the second time. This beautiful city remains a nice hotspot in my eyes for sea, city, shopping and delicious food. I went there with a colleague. We arrived halfway through the afternoon and went there by Standby seats (flying for a reduced price for flight attendants). The first day was relaxed. After the flight we decided to change clothes and head for the boulevard to eat and drink for a long time.On vacation I often go to the coast, because the sea gives me peace. Although I don’t go sunbathing or swimming by the sea, I like to be in the vicinity. The place we ate is called destino 86.

Eind vorige maand was ik voor de 2e keer naar Valencia geweest. Deze mooie stad blijft een leuke hotspot in mijn ogen voor zowel zee, stad, winkelen en heerlijk eten. Ik was samen met een collega geweest. We kwamen halverwegen de middag aan en gingen IPB’en (standby vliegen voor een gereduceerde prijs voor stewardessen). De eerste dag was relaxed. Na de vlucht besloten we om te kleden en richting de boulevard te gaan om lang te eten en drinken. Op vakantie ga ik vaak richting de kust, omdat de zee me rust geeft. Al ga ik aan de zee niet bepaald zonnen of zwemmen, ben ik er graag in de buurt. De plek waar we aten heet destino 86.

The second day we left the house around 11 o’clock after we had slept for a long time. Yesterday evening we had the last metro that departed before 11 am from Placa del Tossal del Rei station – about a 15 minute walk from the boulevard – we also came from Colon and that was about a 10/15 minute walk from our hotel. We walked quietly through nice streets in the city, to have breakfast at Brunch Corner – a nice brunch spot hidden between the old streets (I went here the last time as well) it is very affordable and wonderfully quiet. We also decided to rent a bike and explore the city all day long and cycle towards ‘City of Arts and science’ and then head back to the boulevard to have lunch and drink wine at the Marina Beach club (where I went the last time as well) The music there is great, the food is nice and the beach club atmosphere is nice too. You also pay a fine price for lunch.

De 2e dag zijn we geloof ik rond een uur of 11 de deur uit gegaan na we lang hadden uitgeslapen. We hadden gisteren avond de laatste metro die voor 11en vertrok vanaf station Placa del Tossal del Rei – ongeveer 15 min lopen vanaf de boulevard – waar wij vanaf Colon ook vandaan zijn gekomen en ongeveer 10/15 min lopen van ons hotel vandaan waren. We zijn rustig door leuke straatjes in de stad gaan lopen, om te ontbijten bij Brunch Corner – een leuk brunchplekje verborgen tussen de oude straatjes (hier ben ik de vorige keer ook geweest) het is ontzettend betaalbaar en heerlijk rustig. Verder besloten we om een fiets te huren en de hele dag de stad te gaan verkennen en richting ‘City of Arts and science’ te fietsen en daarna opnieuw richting de boulevard te gaan om daar te gaan lunchen en wijn te drinken bij de Marina Beach club (waar ik de vorige keer ook ben geweest) De muziek daar is heerlijk, het eten goed en de beach club sfeer is ook leuk. Voor lunch betaal je ook een prima prijs.

After we had brought the bike back near our hotel, we went to the Boulevard by metro again and went eating pasta – we then missed the last tram (tip: keep track of the times well! The final ones leave quite early) and had to walk for almost 2 hours to get back to the hotel (and I was on heels !!!)

Na we vlak bij ons hotel de fiets terug hadden gebracht, zijn we met de metro opnieuw naar de Boulevard gegaan en pasta gaan eten – we miste vervolgends de laatste tram (tip: houd de tijden goed bij! De laatsten gaan best vroeg) en hebben bijna 2 uur over naar het hotel terug lopen gedaan (en ik op hakken!!!)

Day 3 we took it easy, we went to Savoiardi to have a large breakfast. I went here last year too. This place is really beautiful and the food is great! Try the Red Velvet Cake in particular! I couldn’t finish it alone haha! In addition, I had a breakfast set with Salmon / Avocado toast, juice and a cappuccino. Maybe it sounds a bit crazy – but also check the toilets downstairs – it is just like a Hollywood studio. We went to look at some shops (I couldn’t take wearing my heels anymore and was in a lot of pain, so had to score flat shoes) at El Corte Ingles – We discovered beautiful places that I didn’t see during my previous city trip when we walked quietly through old streets. We went back to the hotel, had lunch in the neighborhood, changed clothes and went back to the airport by tram at the end of the afternoon. It was super fun with the Eindhoven Crew on board!

Dag 3 deden we rustig aan, we zijn naar Savoiardi gegaan om uitgebreid te ontbijten. Hier ben ik ook de vorige keer geweest. Deze plek is echt prachtig en het eten is er top! Probeer vooral de Red Velvet Taart! Die kon ik dus absoluut niet alleen op haha! Daarnaast had ik een ontbijt set met Zalm/Avocado toast, sap en een cappuccino. Klinkt maybe een beetje gek – maar check daar ook even de toiletten beneden – het is net een hollywood studio. We zijn wat winkeltjes gaan kijken (ik kon niet meer met mijn hakken en had super veel pijn, dus moest platte schoentjes scoren) zoals bij het waren huis El Corte Ingles, en hebben mooie plekken ondekt die ik tijdens mijn vorige citytrip niet heb gezien toen we rustig door oude straatjes gingen lopen. We zijn terug naar het hotel gegaan, daar in de buurt gaan lunchen, om gaan kleden en aan het einde van de middag terug naar de airport gegaan met de tram. Het was super gezellig met de Eindhoven Crew aan boord!
