The moment I post this, I have been back from Colombia for almost a day. I also had a new travel friend take these photos in the beautiful streets of Getsemani – Colombia. During my trip to Mexico, I was inspired by stories from other travelers to take a trip to Colombia. This is now also my 10th solo trip! I can’t wait to take you in many posts about this beautiful destination soon. I went all alone, so no group tour, no organized tour – no! In advance, I only booked the (standby) flights and hostels. Sometimes I even leave a few days open to see at which locations I would like to spend the nights and visit later. I received this nice skort during a previous collaboration with Tess V. Hello everyone! Great that you are reading my second part of my solo Mexico travel diary. This post is extra long because I didn’t want to split it into two more parts. So I would say, take your time with this! haha. I try to describe my diaries extensively, but some things are left out and I also find it unnecessary to share. Moreover, otherwise the text becomes too long, and I try to describe it broadly. During my travels, I also try to keep a general diary here and there in order to expand this later with the photos. Mexico travel diary | Solo trip to Mexico part 1

In this travel post I will take you on a solo trip to Mexico, where I will share my experiences and tips extensively, as in a diary. I don’t want to give too much away yet, but to start with how I experienced the whole trip: As one of the most beautiful trips I’ve ever made. Way beyond my expectations. Especially because of the special people and unexpected fun things that I got on my path. This journey literally felt like a pink cloud – pure happiness, great gratitude, euphoria and peace. I am extremely grateful to be able to do these beautiful things in my life and am certainly aware of this privilege. I am grateful that I can give myself solo travel as a gift, and will continue to do so. I hope these travel diaries might inspire you to go on a solo trip yourself. If not, I hope it is at least a fun activity to take you on this 11 day solo adventure. With a big smile on my face, I start this travel diary. Even if nobody would read it, so to speak, I just like to have everything worked out for myself and to be able to share it. Japan travel diary | 2019 Solo trip to Japan part 3

I cropped this last part of my 14 day trip into one post as I haven’t taken many photos in the last few days there. This is day 9 to 14. One of the last days I heard from a KLM flight attendant that my standby travel flight was as good as full, so I booked an extra night in my hostel in Tokyo and converted the KLM IPB flight to a new one day later. This day I went to Kyoto again from Osaka, this time with Yuka. Osaka and Kyoto are not long apart by public transport, I believe half an hour, so no other hostel was needed. Yuka and I have known each other since 2013 and have seen each other in the Netherlands and last year in Japan as well. [Lees meer…]

In November, I went to Japan for 14 days. Just like I did in 2018, I went solo. I had booked the direct KLM flights via crew standby travel. After a flight of 10.5 hours in total, I left to the city the same way as last year, with the Narita express – a direct train connection to central Tokyo at Narita Airport station. The price of a return trip is 4000 yen (around 28 euros) – For the standby/crew members among us, you can also use the return ticket for another day, in case your plans change within 14 days. This travel diary is a very special and personal one, the title says Solo, but I was not alone. I was very curious about my partial ‘roots’ and lovely family members that I never or haven’t seen in the last 20 years. I went to see them on my own in Istanbul. During my last days in Japan I did not take many pictures. I had done almost everything I wanted to do. The 7th day of my Tokyo trip, my new Swedish and French travel friends suggested to join them to go running around 6 in the morning.
