Hi all! Welcome to my never uploaded travel diary piece from my Japan trip in 2019. Update, this part was in my drafts for 5 years.. so my memory is not entirely clear in this post, and at times I will be speaking in the past or the present. I have changed the post date so that it stays on the correct timeline for the date I published the others. The prices I mention in the post are very different in 2024, and based on the prices in 2019. [Lees meer…]
In November, I went to Japan for 14 days. Just like I did in 2018, I went solo. I had booked the direct KLM flights via crew standby travel. After a flight of 10.5 hours in total, I left to the city the same way as last year, with the Narita express – a direct train connection to central Tokyo at Narita Airport station. The price of a return trip is 4000 yen (around 28 euros) – For the standby/crew members among us, you can also use the return ticket for another day, in case your plans change within 14 days. The place where I am standing here is called Dotonbori. This place is known for the large “Glico Man” that you can see behind me. This is probably also the most touristic photo spot of Osaka, haha. Together with Yuka and her mother, I started exploring Osaka about halfway through my 14-day Japan trip this year. [Lees meer…]
Hi everyone! Japan was really a wonderful solo trip. I experienced so many great things, got wonderful new memories and met many people. I will place a lot of travel diaries from my last 3 trips soon. Where I stand here is on a high viewpoint in Shibuya. I am really happy with how the pictures have turned out. These photos were taken by Anita, with whom I went to have lunch this day. [Lees meer…]
At the end of October I had been to Lisbon with a friend from my former study International Business (IBS). We were planning to visit a friend of ours who is studying there for a few months. Yanneke and I flew (standby) to Lisbon. This 4 day trip is for me number 4 of 2019 and my 3rd time in Lisbon. As I have said in many posts, Lisbon is my favorite city trip destination in Europe so far. The many colorful streets with sweet little restaurants keep surprising me. The follow up cities are Valencia and Porto for me. In 2015 I went there as a study trip (and during that time, my “cabin crew dreams” started). In 2017 I went there solo. [Lees meer…]
Lisbon is my favorite city trip destination in Europe as I have probably told you before. The colorful streets and all those cute places keep surprising me. I bought this cute dot dress in sale at Loavies. I wanted to bring a nice new dress to Lisbon last minute, so I chose this one. Where I am standing here, is at Pink Street near Cais do Sodre. This colored street is a hotspot in Lisbon, where many people take pictures. [Lees meer…]
A few days ago I was in Lisbon – trip number 4 of 2019. I went to Lisbon with a school friend for 4 days to visit another school friend – this was, by the way, my 3rd time in Lisbon. Lisbon genuinely remains my favorite European city alongside my home town. (By the way, I didn’t notice the mop until I was editing, haha.) I ordered this pink dress at Godly. When I arrived from chilly Netherlands in way warmer Portugal, I replaced my tights and sneakers with my favorite travel shoes. By the way – Yanneke took the pictures of this outfit at one of the cute narrow streets near our Airbnb.[Lees meer…]
This travel diary is a very special and personal one,Β the title says Solo, but I was not alone. I was very curious about my partial ‘roots’ and lovely family members that I never or haven’t seen in the last 20 years. I went to see them on my own in Istanbul. After the sudden death of my grandfather in early 2019, which I was actually going to see in real life for the first time this year (we had facetime contact every now and then, telephone contact and he spoke Dutch), I decided to fly to Istanbul during my vacation, less than half a day after I came back from Valencia, from Eindhoven airport. [Lees meer…]
At the end of last month I went to Valencia for the second time. This beautiful city remains a nice hotspot in my eyes for sea, city, shopping and delicious food. I went there with a colleague. We arrived halfway through the afternoon and went there by Standby seats (flying for a reduced price for flight attendants). The first day was relaxed. After the flight we decided to change clothes and head for the boulevard to eat and drink for a long time. [Lees meer…]
