Being a stewardess | Layovers in Brussels

Hi everyone! It’s been a while since I last wrote a flight attendant post. I thought it would be fun to make one again, especially now that I’ve had two nice ‘layovers’. I created this post for all flight attendants-to-be, or people who are simply very interested in taking a look ‘in the kitchen’ of life in aviation. With my airline you hardly ever stay in another place, because we mainly only do ’turnarounds’ (at least, especially in my case as someone who is Eindhoven based), but recently we fly from Brussels Airport. I really enjoy staying in a different place occasionally for my work. This year I also loved this during my modeling assignments back in spring, when I often stayed in a hotel with a nice group of girls. In a short time I had two layovers and I personally really liked that. I had a short one night layover from my standby, then about two weeks later a 3 night layover scheduled on my roster. Spain travel diary | 3 day short trip to Ibiza

Hi everyone! Last month I went to Ibiza for 3 days. It was amazing and the island really surprised me. It was a last minute trip with a dear colleague just before my vacation to Mexico. It started at the beginning of the afternoon when we left with our airline (standby tickets) from Schiphol to Ibiza. After a wonderful flight with the lovely crew and sitting in the cockpit during the landing (which still remains beautiful, even though I have been a flight attendant for years), we went to the car rental that we arranged through our employer. Because Kanar – the colleague who was going to travel with me – drives an automatic car, I drove around the island on this trip. Hi everyone! Last autumn I went to Alicante with a friend who was temporarily working at my airline. Due to all of my busy schedules, all my travel diaries had been ‘on hold’ for a few months. Spain & Portugal travel diary | Unexpected road trip to Faro, Sevilla, Tarifa & Marbella

Hi everyone! Lately I have very little time to make travel posts. Creating one takes a lot of time, but I love doing this. This is the travel diary about my road trip from Faro, Sevilla, Tarifa, Marbella and Malaga in 5 days. In February I was due to go to Mexico during my annual unpaid leave as a new distant solo trip. Joelle, a good friend of mine, wanted to travel with me last minute for a few days, before continuing the journey solo. To briefly summarize how that ended: The flight was full and Joelle and I were left behind (we were going to fly standby; a cheap way of flying for people in aviation if there is room on board). My heart was disappointed that we were left behind. We gave our cheesecake to the sweet senior purser I happened to know so that the crew could enjoy a snack on their long flight to Cancun. Unfortunately, we decided to pick up our suitcase and come up with a new plan on the spot. Once at plaza we canceled everything we had booked (and luckily got the money back from the hotels). Greece Travel diary | 4 day holiday to Zakynthos

I can’t believe how fast time goes. Zakynthos has been seriously almost 2-3 months since I post this (Early September)! I will already tell you that Zakynthos is one of the most beautiful places I have visited in Europe and I highly recommend it! The flight distance is around 2.5 hours, so also quite close. This trip was a total of 4 days. You can do a lot more in such a short time than you might think. I like to go on an adventure or discovery. A complete “beach vacation” or “party vacation” is not for an adventurous and curious person like me. So I have to tell you that I really can’t spend whole days just lying on a beach. I prefer to travel (around the island (with or without a plan) with a car), sightseeing, discovering a nice new city and old streets, eating and drinking deliciously, trying local food, drinking coffee on terraces, taking lots of pictures with my camera, exploring the local culture of a place (for example, my Japan trips), visit viewpoints over the city or landscapes, get to know new people from all over the world, see beautiful places, do lots of cycling and walking, or on adventure/discovery… you name it. At the beginning of this month, I went on a short trip to Split in Croatia. The country started to light up to me more and more, so I decided to take a short trip with a friend. The schedule was 4 days, but due to certain circumstances I unfortunately couldn’t get time off. It turned into 3 days last minute. Anyway, it was great! Portugal Travel Diary | 3 day trip to Lagos in the Algarve

I went to Lagos in the Algarve with my good friend Michelle, this trip had been planned for months. In this travel diary I give tips and tell you what we have discovered, done and seen in this 3 day trip at the beginning of Oktober. It sounds short, but by reading you will see how much we were able to see, do and relax in such a short time. The weather was clear and between 25-30 degrees all day, great!

Spain Travel Diary | 3 day getaway to Malaga

Last week I went to Malaga with my good friend and colleague Michelle. This city trip was a last minute decision, so that made it even more fun. We decided to relax for 3 days in a much warmer city to catch up, because we hadn’t seen each other for a few months. On March 4 we flew to Malaga with a very nice crew from our home base Eindhoven Airport, Standby. I had a three-day weekend, so as I had done before, a city trip suited perfectly. We arrived in the evening so we changed our outfit in our AirBnb apartment and then went out for dinner. By the way, our Airbnb was called Malaga City Breaks. Portugal Travel Diary | 4 day Lisbon girls trip

At the end of October I had been to Lisbon with a friend from my former study International Business (IBS). We were planning to visit a friend of ours who is studying there for a few months. Yanneke and I flew (standby) to Lisbon. This 4 day trip is for me number 4 of 2019 and my 3rd time in Lisbon. As I have said in many posts, Lisbon is my favorite city trip destination in Europe so far. The many colorful streets with sweet little restaurants keep surprising me. The follow up cities are Valencia and Porto for me. In 2015 I went there as a study trip (and during that time, my “cabin crew dreams” started). In 2017 I went there solo. [Lees meer…]
