One of my best friends – Anne-Sophie and I really wanted to go on a holiday. We were very late with booking something, which made our wish for either Albufeira, Porto or Valencia too hard to book. When we nearly gave up on fixing a trip for this time of the year so late, we saw a last minute trip to Rhodos. The trip was 6 days in total, which we had 4 to spend in Greece of because 2 were for the flights and things related to it. That same evening, we booked. Together we left to Rhodes from Amsterdam Schiphol airport not much later that month.
Een van mijn aller beste vriendinnen; Anne-Sophie en ik wilde heel erg graag op vakantie. We waren erg laat met boeken waardoor onze wensen van Albufeira, Porto of Valencia wegvielen. Toen we bijna hadden opgegeven een vakantie voor elkaar te krijgen zo last minute voor deze tijd van het jaar, zag ik de last minute reis naar Rhodos. De reis was in totaal 6 dagen waarvan we in totaal 4 hele dagen te besteden hadden en daarnaast 2 hadden besteed aan vliegen en alles gerelateerd. Diezelfde avond hebben we het geboekt. We zijn samen niet veel later naar Rhodos vertrokken vanaf Schiphol.
We stayed at a hotel called Hotel Emerald in Kremasti.
We spended 3 out of the 4 days on tanning, swimming and reading at the hotel pool and at the beautiful ocean nearby. For the rest, we bought groceries and had diner at restaurants near the hotel. We mostly ate Greek foods such as honey & yoghurt, Gyros, Greek feta salads, Tsaziki, Moussaka and Pita.

We verbleven in een hotel genaamd Hotel Emerald in Kremasti. 3 van de 4 dagen waren besteed aan zonnen, zwemmen en lezen bij het hotel zwembad en de prachtige oceaan dichtbij. Voor de rest hebben we boodschappen gedaan en zijn we uit eten geweest bij restaurants dicht bij het hotel. We hebben vooral Grieks eten op zoals honing & yoghurt, Gyros, Griekse feta salades, Tsaziki, Moussaka en Pita.
During the second day, we went on a trip to the city of Rhodos and Kalithea Springs.
We decided to walk around Rhodos center and to have lunch there. I bought some bracelets for me and my sister and eventually, we visited an old castle and we got ourselves a cab to travel to Kalithea Springs – A place I really wanted to visit during this trip because of the gorgeous scenery and the look of it.
At first we went swimming at the beach there and had some iced coffee, then we visited Kalithea Springs. Kalithea Springs is indeed absolutely beautiful! Eventually we took blogpictures there, climbed on top of a huge rock, went swimming at the springs itself and had a salad as diner at the beach club.

Tijdens de 2e dag, gingen we op een dagtrip naar Rhodos en Kalithea Springs. We besloten rond te gaan lopen in Rhodos stad en om daar te lunchen. Ik heb wat armbanden gekocht voor mijn zus en mijzelf. Vervolgends hebben we een oud kasteel bezocht en een taxi geregeld om naar Kalithea Springs te reizen – Een plek die ik heel graag wilde zien tijdens deze reis wegens de prachtige omgeving en het uiterlijk ervan. Eerst gingen we zwemmen bij een strand daar en namen heerlijk ijs koffie, daarna gingen we naar Kalithea Springs. Kalithea Springs is inderdaad prachtig! We hebben er vervolgens blogfoto’s gemaakt, zijn op een grote rots geklommen, zijn wezen zwemmen bij de springs zelf en gingen daarna een salade eten bij de beach club.
What I love a lot about travelling is flying, meeting local & new people and to visit more local places instead of tourist places, like I experienced in Portugal and Spain. I wish I did more during this holiday and saw more of the island, but it was still a beautiful trip which I don’t want to forget!
Wat ik heerlijk vind aan reizen is vliegen, lokale en nieuwe mensen ontmoetten en om in plaats van touristische plekken, vooral lokale plekken te zoeken zoals ik heb ervaren in Portugal en Spanje. Ik had liever meer gedaan en gezien van het eiland tijdens deze vakantie, maar het was alsnog een prachtige reis die ik niet zal vergeten!
