France Travel Diary | Paris summer nights (long blog)

08/08/2026 | Reageer

Hi everyone! And welcome back to another travel diary! 🤍 Within just three weeks, I made two beautiful trips to Paris again: one during Fête de la Musique and one during Bastille Day. Two completely different, but incredibly special moments to experience Paris, which I’m of course going to tell you all about in this travel diary!
Since Christmas 2025, Paris has become such a magical place to me. It has truly been the city of love for me, and it is still the city of my heart. Even though the reason why I’ve travelled to Paris so often lately is sadly no longer for love, I’m still just as in love with this city. Maybe even in a different way now. I’m especially grateful for all the beautiful memories I’ve been able to make here, together with some very special friends.

It did feel a little strange to be back after the special reason that brought me here 2.5 months ago, but at the same time, I was really looking forward to experiencing Paris again – this time during two of the most amazing moments of summer. 🇫🇷✨

Hi allemaal!

Fête de la musique weekend

19-06-2026 – Amsterdam & Paris – Day 1

The trip started with a late-morning Air France flight to Paris. Despite the short distance, I still prefer flying! Upon arrival, my good and trusted travel friend J.B. picked me up with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. And fun fact: even though he is just a friend, it was actually the first time a man had ever given me flowers! So of course, I decided to take extra good care of them. 💐

We took the train from Charles de Gaulle to Châtelet, as J.B. lives in a beautiful apartment in the 2nd arrondissement, where I could stay. He took me for a lovely lunch at Hotel du Louvre before we met Celine and some of her travel friends at Trocadéro.

J.B. had to leave for work, so Celine and I explored Paris together for a while. Later, J.B. took me to a beautiful building called Le Petit RH on the Champs-Élysées. In the evening, we all met up at a Scottish pub to watch football, spontaneously went to Trocadéro to see the Eiffel Tower sparkle, and ended the night with some drinks near Pont de Bir-Hakeim.

20-06-2026 – Paris – Day 2

Paris was in the middle of a huge heatwave, one of the most intense ones I’ve experienced in Europe. And of course, air conditioning is almost impossible to find in Paris! I woke up to the sounds of the streets of the 2nd arrondissement, filled with little cafés, bakeries and shops, making the neighbourhood feel alive from early in the morning. While I was still sleeping, my good friend J.B. had already gone to the bakery down the street to get us fresh pains au chocolat. And the ones in France are truly something else. Such a cozy little memory! 🥐

One of the best things about J.B. living so centrally, right in a lively café street and within walking distance of Châtelet, is feeling like you’re instantly part of Parisian life. Paris feels more and more like home to me, and little experiences like these only make that feeling stronger. I’m incredibly grateful for J.B.’s hospitality, generosity and for taking such good care of me. Since he works remotely and I work part-time, I could decide day by day how long I wanted to stay, just like I did in Marbella.

That day, I really wanted to visit Jardin du Luxembourg, a beautiful park I had never seen before. After a relaxed walk through the gardens, we went for brunch nearby and then visited the Louvre together for the first time. At the main entrance, they told us it was full, but the fun thing about having Parisian friends is that they always seem to know another way in – and somehow, it worked! On my fourth trip to Paris, it was definitely time to finally see the Louvre from the inside. We spent a few hours exploring and I was really impressed.

Afterwards, we took the metro to meet Celine and my new French friend Raissa for cocktails, before spending hours along the Seine like true Parisians, with baguettes, dips and wine. J.B.’s best friend joined us later as well. That evening, J.B. and I had dinner at home before ending the day with a big group at Le Paradis, together with Celine and the travellers from the night before, enjoying drinks and a World Cup match.

21-06-2026 – Paris – Day 3

Today was Fête de la Musique! And isn’t it funny that when I originally planned this weekend with Celine and J.B., I had absolutely no idea this huge music festival would be happening? Fête de la Musique is a free cultural music festival with performances, live music and big DJs all across Paris, with something different happening in each arrondissement. One thing I really admire about France is how much is invested in national holidays, culture and national pride. Personally, I wish we had a little more of that in the Netherlands too. 🇫🇷🎶

After a coffee at La Compas, as we often do now, and some delicious chocolate croissants from the bakery for breakfast, J.B. and I headed to Montmartre – my favourite place in Paris. I wanted to go back to Bon Jo, the brunch spot I visited during my previous trips with Thibi – the nickname for someone dear to me and a special aviation colleague from my previous travel diaries 😉. Tomorrow, I would actually see him again after more than two months, following our two special weekends earlier this year.

Bon Jo has amazing brunch and great coffee, so I ordered the same croissant with salmon and eggs Benedict again – something my actual Parisian friend J.B. considered a slight disgrace to French culture, haha. 🥐

After lunch, we took the metro to Concorde to meet Celine, Raissa and their other travel friends, before heading together to the 7th arrondissement to see Dutch artist Antoon. Such a fun way to start the celebrations!

In between, we quickly went back to the apartment to eat and charge our phones before heading into the packed streets again. Around Bastille, Hugo, J.B. and I stopped for another coffee and met one of their DJ friends. Taking the metro that night was an absolute challenge, but eventually we made it to the DJ set of Diplo and Major Lazer – SO cool! Because of the heatwave, my rosé hit me pretty hard and I suddenly had to find something to eat, haha.

After wandering through the city some more, we ended up back in Montmartre, surrounded by techno and live music. What an amazing celebration — nights like this make Paris even more special to me!

22-06-2026 – Paris – Day 4

On day 4, I woke up feeling extremely tired again because of the intense heatwave. J.B. and I went for a healthy brunch and coffee within walking distance of his apartment in the 2nd arrondissement. After looking around and having a cappuccino at La Samaritaine, J.B. had to work for a few hours, while I would spend the afternoon with Thibi, who I was finally going to see again after such a long time and distance.

He had booked a súper beautiful rooftop bar for the two of us at La Fantaisie in the 9th arrondissement – a gorgeous hotel with an amazing rooftop. The garden, cute little tables, flowers, lovely staff and beautiful view made it such a perfect place. And it almost felt like my outfit was made for it! 🌸 I purposely wore my soft pink swing dress, beige heels, curly hair and pretty make-up – the same look I wore in Marbella and previously shared in an outfit post – together with a red and white polka-dot fan a woman randomly gave me in the elevator.

It felt very special to see each other again after everything that had happened and, even though we still talk every day, to finally spend time together in person again. Since he absolutely loves stroopwafels, I had secretly brought him some again, as always. After 3.5 hours of drinks, lots of catching up and a special reunion after everything, we both had to leave.

Afterwards, I met J.B. and Bernice and the three of us went back to the Seine with some wine for sunset, after briefly seeing the rest of the group. We walked through a temporary art tunnel, stopped by the Olympic Balloon at the Louvre — which unfortunately didn’t take off this time — and ended the evening with dinner at Au Pied de Cochon. Such a beautiful ending to my final night in Paris, and one I felt incredibly grateful for!

23-06-2026 – Paris, Amsterdam & Den Haag – Day 5

On my final day, I left early in the morning for Charles de Gaulle, together with the flowers J.B. had given me five days earlier. My plan was to bring them all the way back to the Netherlands and let them dry at home – and as we speak, they are now beautifully dried and hanging on my wall. 💐

After arriving back in the Netherlands, I spontaneously drove to The Hague with my good friend Brenda, who happened to be in the country, and spent the rest of the day with her – flowers included. Such an unexpected and spontaneous ending to an amazing trip!

Looking back, this was my favourite trip of the year so far, in a city that keeps finding an even more special place in my heart. Paris, you were amazing!

Paris, you were amazing!

Bastille day

12-07-2026 – Amsterdam & Paris – Day 1

Less than 2.5 weeks after my last trip to Paris, I had the privilege of being back again! I was actually on my way to the US to visit friends in Tampa, who moved there from the Netherlands two years ago. However, my flight from Amsterdam was completely full and at the same time, I kept seeing updates from Paris about the Bastille Day fireworks, which would take place one day earlier this year. So I spontaneously changed my plans and decided to fly through Paris instead. This way, I could see the fireworks, reunite with my travel friends AND fly directly to Orlando with Air France the next day. Win-win-win! 🇫🇷✈️

That evening, I was surprised with Business Class again, just like during my special weekend at the end of March. Somehow, I even got the exact same seat as when I flew to Paris to see someone special, who I’ve mentioned before! Since I had decided on this trip so last minute and he already had a busy schedule, we wouldn’t see each other this time.

After enjoying a lovely meal onboard and a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower during landing, I arrived in Paris feeling incredibly grateful to be back once again. J.B. was waiting for me in yet another huge heatwave, this time with even more beautiful flowers than before! 💐 I’m so incredibly grateful for this special friendship.

When we arrived in the 2nd arrondissement, almost the entire neighbourhood was experiencing a power outage. The only place that still had electricity was the café in front of the apartment, so we ended up spending a few unexpectedly cozy hours there with desserts, tea and wine until the power finally came back on later that evening.

13-07-2026 – Paris – Day 2

This morning, on my only full day in Paris, Raissa, J.B. and I would spend the day together again. After J.B. had worked for a few hours and came home with coffee and chocolate croissants from the bakery once again, it was time to head out. I was so happy that despite announcing my trip completely last minute, the three of us could spend the day together and I could, as usual, stay with J.B. in the 2nd arrondissement again.

For some reason, many attractions were closed that day, including Petit Palais, which I really wanted to visit. Instead, we went for lunch at Mokus, a super cool place near Trocadéro that is also known for its rather crazy toilets, haha. Such a fun lunch spot! Afterwards, we walked around the city taking lots of beautiful photos, including some at the Arc de Triomphe.

In the evening, we started looking for a good spot to watch the 11 PM fireworks. Our original plan was Champ de Mars, but I had never seen Paris THAT crowded before. Eventually, Raissa, her good friend Hugo, J.B. and I found a spot near the Pullman Hotel, where a DJ was playing really good music from the rooftop all evening. How cool! J.B. had picked up some groceries for us, so we spent hours sitting together with a lovely bottle of rosé, chips, salads and all kinds of snacks while waiting for the show to begin. 🇫🇷🥂

About ten minutes late, the show finally started. For around twenty minutes straight, fireworks, drones and glitter surrounded the Eiffel Tower. It was so unreal and beautiful that I got goosebumps, and even my French friends, actual Paris locals, had tears in their eyes. This was genuinely one of the most beautiful things I have ever been lucky enough to witness in person. All the drones surrounding the Eiffel Tower made the already incredible fireworks even more spectacular. ✨

And as if it had been perfectly timed, the second the show ended, it started pouring with rain. The entire city started running and the metro stations became so overcrowded that getting home was basically impossible. So the four of us ended up walking through Paris for hours, completely soaked and mostly just laughing the entire time. Eventually, we ended up absolutely drenched together on a terrace before splitting up and heading home to sleep. What a night!

14-07-2026 – Paris, Orlando & Tampa – Day 3

During my final half day in Paris, J.B. had to work again and later that day, I would continue my journey to Orlando with Air France, my very first time flying long-haul with them!

Today was July 14th, France’s national holiday, with the famous military parade and fighter jets flying over Paris. Since J.B. had to work, we unfortunately couldn’t attend the parade, but I could hear all the fighter jets flying over the apartment.

After a good brunch somewhere in our neighbourhood, it was already time to head back to Charles de Gaulle. From Châtelet, I usually take the RER directly to the airport, which takes around 30 to 40 minutes. Super easy when staying in the 2nd arrondissement! From there, it was time to leave Paris behind and continue my journey to Orlando.

And just like that, two special trips to Paris within only three weeks came to an end. Two completely different trips that once again gave me so many beautiful memories. From Fête de la Musique, long evenings with wine along the Seine and special moments with people dear to me, to unexpectedly returning for Bastille Day and witnessing one of the most beautiful fireworks shows I have ever seen in my life.

Paris earned a very special place in my heart this year for a very special reason. And although that reason has changed, I’ve noticed that my love for this city has only continued to grow. Through the friendships I’ve built here, the little everyday moments, spontaneous plans and all the memories I’ve made, Paris has become incredibly familiar and somehow feels a little more like home every time.

Most of all, I’m incredibly grateful for J.B., Celine, Raissa, Thibi and all the other special people I got to share these trips and my time in Paris with. From flowers and chocolate croissants in the morning, a special reunion on a rooftop and wine along the Seine, to walking through Paris completely soaked in the middle of the night. It’s exactly these little and personal moments that make travelling so special to me.

Paris, thank you for another two unforgettable trips, the people, the memories and everything this city has come to mean to me. I have a feeling there are still many more memories to be made here. À bientôt! 🇫🇷🥐🥂✨

Paris, thank you for another two unforgettable trips, the people, the memories and everything this city has come to mean to me. I have a feeling there are still many more memories to be made here. À bientôt! 🇫🇷🥐🥂✨

One decision changed the entire direction of my life..

What started as one scary solo trip became a completely different life. 🌍✨

Nine years ago, I had every excuse not to go.

“What if I’m lonely?”
“What if something happens?”
“What if I’m not brave enough?”

Now I’ve explored dozens of countries on my own, met incredible people from all over the world, discovered places I never knew existed, and most importantly… I discovered a version of myself I never would have met if I had stayed home.

Solo travel isn’t about proving you’re independent.

It’s about realizing you’re capable of so much more than you ever imagined.

If my journey encourages even one woman to book that flight she’s been dreaming about, then every adventure has been worth it.

Be the reason another woman believes she can do it too. 🤍

✈️ Would you ever travel solo? Tell me where you’d go first.

The best things that ever happened to me started when;

I stopped waiting. 🌍✨

Some of the most beautiful memories of my life began with a table for one.

What’s one place you’ve always wanted to visit on your own? 🤍

Life moves so fast. These photos aren’t for algorithms - they’re little pieces of a life I never want to forget. If they inspire someone along the way, that’s just a bonus. 🤍✨

Embracing Authenticity | Defending Truth on my Miss World (Netherlands) journey in 2021, my core values and mission

Dutch version below – Hello everyone, I would like to share my truth, vision, and story with all of you, including the beliefs I stand for. Why I’ve been blogging for 10 years, using Instagram to share my story, and why I decided to participate in beauty pageants like Miss World for my country. The truths and misconceptions about me and my participation in the pageant and standing up for my personal narrative and story. – Celebrate Your Authenticity: My Core Value, Standing up against Bullying, and Self-empowerment. “I signed a contract that does not allow me to be completely open about my experiences with ‘MWNL’.
