This part of my travel diary is extra long, because it contains my entire extensive return journey, but also a lot of photos, because Ubud was the place where I planned most activities and wanted to take photos. What really appeals to me about Ubud, is also the fact that in my experience it is more the ‘authentic’ Bali, without beach and sea – but many rice fields, nature and waterfalls. After an incredibly long Grab ride of over 3 hours for just 38 kilometers – yes, Bali traffic is truly no joke – I finally arrived in Uluwatu late in the afternoon. I had booked Karma Backpackers hostel, one of the few options here. It immediately struck me that everything here is a bit more expensive than in Canggu: food, drinks, and even parties.
