In November, I went to Japan for 14 days. Just like I did in 2018, I went solo. I had booked the direct KLM flights via crew standby travel. After a flight of 10.5 hours in total, I left to the city the same way as last year, with the Narita express – a direct train connection to central Tokyo at Narita Airport station. The price of a return trip is 4000 yen (around 28 euros) – For the standby/crew members among us, you can also use the return ticket for another day, in case your plans change within 14 days. Portugal Travel Diary | 4 day Lisbon girls trip
At the end of October I had been to Lisbon with a friend from my former study International Business (IBS). We were planning to visit a friend of ours who is studying there for a few months. Yanneke and I flew (standby) to Lisbon. This 4 day trip is for me number 4 of 2019 and my 3rd time in Lisbon. As I have said in many posts, Lisbon is my favorite city trip destination in Europe so far. The many colorful streets with sweet little restaurants keep surprising me. The follow up cities are Valencia and Porto for me. In 2015 I went there as a study trip (and during that time, my “cabin crew dreams” started). In 2017 I went there solo. [Read more…]
Outfit | Mint
Lisbon is my favorite city trip destination in Europe as I have probably told you before. The colorful streets and all those cute places keep surprising me. I bought this cute dot dress in sale at Loavies. I wanted to bring a nice new dress to Lisbon last minute, so I chose this one. Where I am standing here, is at Pink Street near Cais do Sodre. This colored street is a hotspot in Lisbon, where many people take pictures. [Read more…]
Outfit | Rose
A few days ago I was in Lisbon – trip number 4 of 2019. I went to Lisbon with a school friend for 4 days to visit another school friend – this was, by the way, my 3rd time in Lisbon. Lisbon genuinely remains my favorite European city alongside my home town. (By the way, I didn’t notice the mop until I was editing, haha.) I ordered this pink dress at Godly. When I arrived from chilly Netherlands in way warmer Portugal, I replaced my tights and sneakers with my favorite travel shoes. By the way – Yanneke took the pictures of this outfit at one of the cute narrow streets near our Airbnb. [Read more…]
Turkey Travel Diary | 4 day special solo trip to Istanbul
This travel diary is a very special and personal one,Β the title says Solo, but I was not alone. I was very curious about my partial ‘roots’ and lovely family members that I never or haven’t seen in the last 20 years. I went to see them on my own in Istanbul. After the sudden death of my grandfather in early 2019, which I was actually going to see in real life for the first time this year (we had facetime contact every now and then, telephone contact and he spoke Dutch), I decided to fly to Istanbul during my vacation, less than half a day after I came back from Valencia, from Eindhoven airport. [Read more…]
Spain Travel Diary | Second 3 day trip to Valencia
At the end of last month I went to Valencia for the second time. This beautiful city remains a nice hotspot in my eyes for sea, city, shopping and delicious food. I went there with a colleague. We arrived halfway through the afternoon and went there by Standby seats (flying for a reduced price for flight attendants). The first day was relaxed. After the flight we decided to change clothes and head for the boulevard to eat and drink for a long time. [Read more…]
Spain Travel Diary | 4 day Seville trip
Earlier this month, I went on an ‘if place available’ trip with a friend from work. We went to Seville from Eindhoven. This was also my first trip of this year. After I had worked that day myself, I had changed my outfit, scored my suitcase and left with Tess. After a nice flight with nice crew, we went by taxi to the city center of Seville. Due to the enormously crowded ‘holy week’ (a week of festivities, which we knew little about at the time), [Read more…]
Japan travel diary | Solo trip to Tokyo part 4
During my last days in Japan I did not take many pictures. I had done almost everything I wanted to do. The 7th day of my Tokyo trip, my new Swedish and French travel friends suggested to join them to go running around 6 in the morning. I was quite tired, so I refused and went to Tokyo tower later, because I wanted to see it up close. It was nice and sunny, so I walked through Tokyo with a happy and satisfied feeling. [Read more…]
Japan travel diary | 2018 Solo trip to Tokyo part 3
If you haven’t checked out day 3 and 4 yet, you can click this link: Part 2. Day 5 I really wanted to see the view of Tokyo. Once I sat down at the coffee bar of my hostel at the beginning of the afternoon, I got to know a new solo traveler named Hana (which I eventually hung out with a lot during this trip, and joined me to Shinjuku.
